New findings about the death of Che Guevara
Numerous questions concerning the death of Che Guevara remain strangely unanswered
Venezuelan investigative reporter David Placer will begin crowdfunding his investigative trip to Bolivia to unearth new information about the killing of Che Guevara. With access to previously unseen files about the death of Che Guevara, Placer believes he will be able to resolve unanswered questions on matters such as the treatment of the socialist guerrilla’s body.
“The police documents reveal that Che Guevara’s body was submitted to strange treatment. We have to conduct a deep investigation into this case, to uncover more details about what the Bolivian authorities did to the body of this lasting icon of Latin America. Even though a lot of information about the death of Che Guevara has come to light already, and there is a great deal of speculation about US participation, there are many unanswered questions: Who was the man who shot him? What did the local authorities do with the body? I want to find the answers to these questions”, says Placer.
During the trip, Placer will also investigate the narcotics industry of Bolivia, and cover an under-reported social phenomenon- that of the ‘body repatriation party’, in which relatives of a poor, deceased Bolivian emigrant in Spain hold something like a festival to raise money to bring their remains back home.
David Placer has spent most of his career in Barcelona, Spain, where he has uncovered political corruption and organized crime networks. He is also an authority on South America, and the author of a critical biography of Hugo Chavez. He aims to raise 3000 dollars with Byline, to pay for the cost of the Bolivia investigation.
